FdjT (Festival der jungen Talente) occurs every two years in either Offenbach or Frankfurt am Main. One of FdjT’s aims is to facilitate collaboration between students working across arts disciplines by supporting the production of new works.

In 2014 FdjT takes place from 19. - 21. September at the Offenbach Harbour, an industrial area on the cusp of extensive redevelopment. FdjT places an emphasis on temporality which corresponds to the transience of the festival site buildings, the Lokschuppen and the Ölhalle, which will be torn down after the festival. Alongside these spaces, new works have also been created for the EVO Halle, the Boxclub and the Main.

The seventh edition of FdjT, titled »What Happens in Offenbach Stays in Offenbach«, is curated by Roos Gortzak. The title references Mario García Torres’ »What Happens in Halifax Stays in Halifax« (2004 - 2006), a slide projection which investigates a work by Robert Barry, which was realised by students of David Askevold’s Projects Class in 1969. Barry was one of 12 artists who sent an instruction to the group, it asked them to agree on and keep a secret idea. The artwork’s existence depends on the secret remaining within the confines of the group.

The FdjT seminar group, like the Projects Class, have worked with scores and instructions created for them by established artists. These instructions will form part of the festival programme and also be in the FdjT newspaper.

Founded in 2000 by the Verein für Kunstförderung Rhein-Main e.V., FdjT is a cooperation between six institutions: HfG Offenbach; HfMDK Frankfurt; Hessische Theaterakademie; ATW Institute at Justus Liebig University Gießen; Städelschule Frankfurt and Dramaturgie Master at the Goethe University Frankfurt.
